Beautification of Bhawani Nagar park

It is quite strange that no due attention for construction and beautification of the Bhawani Nagar, Environmental Park is being paid till date. The park is still in that very conditions as it was i.e. the  cracks have been observed in tracks, the boulders have fallen, no maintenance with which has given it a shabby look. There should have been entertainment for children to play with enthusiasm i.e. fixing of Giant Jhoola and other recreational items like in Mohinder Nagar, Park. No entry ticket should be kept till the park becomes worth to be with an aesthetic scenario. We, the inhabitants of Bhawani Nagar, Lakar Mandi and Janipura Colony do pray for the personal attention of the Minister for Forests, Jammu and Kashmir State.

Stray dog menace
I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities and the Chief Secretary of the State towards the stray dogs menace. These stray dogs chase the moving vehicles especially two wheelers. Sometimes it leads to fatal and critical accidents and cause injuries to the riders.
Every road, street and crossing of this city of temples is promptly occupied by groups of stray dogs. Instances of dog bites and attack on people–mostly on children, ladies and elderly persons are very common,
Pertinent to place on record that number of these unwanted dogs are multiplying and swelling very rapidly/alarmingly. Normally, a potential female dog gives birth to 5 to 10 pupies at one point of time in a single mating season. The Govt. has miserably failed to chalkout any strategic and effective policy to contain their breeding and check their numbers scientifically. As poisoning of dogs as was taken recourse to  in the past by the Municipal Corporations is prohibited and banned under law and is offence under the provisions of  “Animal Cruelty Act.
There is not an iota of doubt that the authorities concerned by sleeping over the issue for the years together have miserably failed to discharge their legitimate duties and put the innocent people in lurch. Now it is imperative, essential and obligatory for the authorities to chalk out a effective joint venture to curb and check the menace of stray dogs by evolving short and long term policies involving all the stake holders.
Adequate funds must be kept at the disposal of Municipal Corporations both at Jammu and Srinagar to conduct open surgeries of female dogs.
Animal Husbandary Department of the State with the collaboration of the scientists of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology ought to work out scientific modalities to perform sterlisation programme effectively.
Minimally invasive occulsion technique to sterilise Male dogs must be adoped vigorously.
Mass movement and awareness is the need of the day which includes massive involvement of NGO’s who may extend help to the concerned authorities.
Suggestions and help can be had and sought from the experts and scientists of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana Punjab (GADVASU) who develop expertise in this field.

Plea to RTO Jammu
The daily passengers of R.S. Pura route would like to draw your kind attention towards over charging of fare by the R.S.Pura route bus conductors as there is no complete list of fare displayed in the  buses since the hike in fare i.e. 14 percent took place. The fare list would enable the passengers to know exact charges and would help in ending arguments with the conductors.

This is to draw the attention of the Municipal Corporation Jammu towards the Lane No. 12 Bhawani Nagar. The lane is in a dilapidated condition and it is becoming difficult for the people to use it as garbage remains scattered all over the lane.
It is requested to the authorities to maintain the lane on a regular basis to avoid inconvenience to residents.

Deshmesh Nagar stinks
Due to encroachment by some unscrupulous persons on the sides of centuries old natural drainage system (Nalla) running through this area, the drainage system gets choked and the whole area submerges under 2-3 inches dirty water during rainy seasons and due to rush of waste water. The condition of road is very bad. Drains are full of waste materials. Inhabitants face great difficulties due to these problems.
Despite repeated requests the concerned authorities have not paid any attention to these problems.
They are once again requested to get the encroachment on the nallah land removed, repair the road and clean the drains.

Passenger sheds in shambles
The passenger sheds in the Jammu city are in a bad condition. There are 16 such sheds in the city which do not serve the purpose they were constructed for. Presently, passengers do not  use them for boarding a matador or alighting at that place. Passengers do that as per their convenience.
These are now used by beggars and other anti-social elements. These have also become a fertile ground for mosquitoes. Stray cattle and dogs too frequent them.
Besides, some sheds have got their roof tops damaged. Chairs are broken. In nut shell these are not of any use.
The Jammu Municipal authorities are requested to make them functional for the purpose they were constructed for.
