BDSA celebrates B’day of Dr Ambedkar

JAMMU, Apr 25: The J&K unit of Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademy (BDSA) celebrated 126th birth anniversary of Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar at its headquarter here at Roop Nagar.
The function was organized under the chairmanship of Sudesh Kumari, president of the Akademy. Former Minister, Ram Pal was the chief guest on the occasion.
The function started with Bhim Vandana presented by students of Dr Ambedkar Convent School, Rajpura. A large number of people from neighbourhood localities participated in the function.
While speaking on the occasion, Ram Pal told the people that Dr Ambedkar was a visionary leader who did selfless work for the cause of the Country and its people.
Vijay Bhagat, secretary of the Akademy, in his address, threw light on the life of Dr Ambedkar. He informed the gathering that last year United Nations Organization also celebrated the birthday of Dr Ambedkar.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion were RK Kalsotra (State president, Confederation of SC/ST/OBC), GL Thappa (president, All J&K SC/ST Retired Forum) and SS Sarangal, Principal District & Session Judge (Retd).
