BDPA celebrates Pensioners’ Day

JAMMU, Dec 17: A large number of Department of Telecom and BSNL pensioners from all over the J&K State today celebrated Pensioners’ Day.
The Association in a release issued here, today said that on this day in December 1982, the land mark judgment was delivered by the bench of five judges of Supreme Court of India headed by Chief Justice, Justice (retd) Y V Chanderchud titled D S Nakara and others v/s UoI regarding revision of pension for Government of India pensioners and family pensioners.
On this historical day it was declared that all pensioners, pre and post, governed under Central Civil Service (Pension) Rule, 1972 will be entitled to pension under the Liberalized Pension Scheme from the specified date of their retirement/death, it said. Accordingly the Government of India has also recommended the recommendations of 7th CPC to revise the pension/ family pension of all the pre -2016 pensioners who retired/ died in seventies, eighties or nineties by revising their pay according to pay scales of 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Pay Commission and even those who retired even during the year 1980 got their pension revised by 50 percent of the last pay re-fixed in the present, post pay scale recommended by 7th CPC, it added.
The detailed deliberations on this occasion were made by H R Gupta, All India vice president, BDPA (1), B L Bhat, circle secretary, BDPA J&K, S N Kalloo,  district president and R N Mattoo district secretary.
