JAMMU, Sept 15:  An urgent meeting of the members of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association was held today under the chairmanship of Lalit Kumar Mahajan, president BBIA, to discuss the deteriorating   power supply position in SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Jammu from last three weeks.
Association members strongly flayed the Power Development Department (PDD) for repeated power failures between 1 pm to 3 pm everyday in the Industrial Area for the power supply being fed through 50X2 MW Grid Station. The situation of power supply through BB-I Receiving Station is also grim as the power supply remains snapped without any intimation to the unit holders resulting into production and financial losses to them.
The members were informed that the matter had been taken up number of times with the concerned Officials to know about the reasons for the unscheduled power cuts and there was same reply every day that the supply was being cut on the instructions of the Chief Engineer, SLDC from Hira Nagar. “In spite of our repeated requests and reminders to the concerned Chief Engineers no one is taking interest to resolve the issue which shows the casual attitude of PDD towards the Industrial Units,” the members alleged and added that the Department was not taking this issue seriously due to which the Industrialists were facing huge Financial losses, production loss and Machinery breakdown.
“Further, it a matter of great disappointment that Department has  failed to provide funds for the maintenance of Receiving Stations in spite of the fact that  Industries located in Bari Brahmana are contributing approximately Rs 140 crores towards the Cost of Power supplied to Industrial Area which is around 8 to 10 percent of the total revenue collection of the PDD but the Department was not serious about the Maintenance of the Grid stations of the Complex due to which the industrial units are suffering very badly,” the meet observed and appealed  Dr  Nirmal Singh,  Deputy  Chief Minister and Minister for PDD and Chander Parkash, Industries & Commerce Minister to intervene into this matter and issue necessary orders  to stop the unscheduled Power Cuts and  grant requisite  funds for  the replacement of Faulty Equipments on war footing.
The meeting was attended by Rahul Bansal, Varun Singla, Rakesh Bhat, P S  Jaggi and   Viraaj Malhotra and other members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association.
