DODA, Oct 25: The traffic on Batote-Doda- Kishtwar road remained suspended for about eight hours due to massive land slide near Assar today.
Reports said that due to sudden landslide on Batote-Doda road near Chakwah nallah in Assar area at around 8 am today, the movement of vehicles came to halt at around 8 am. The vehicles moving between Jammu-Doda, Jammu-Kishtwar and Jammu-Bhaderwah remained stranded for the entire day. The BRO men with two machines launched the operation clearance and restored traffic at around 4.30 pm.
SSP Traffic, National Highway Sanjay Kotwal when contacted said that at Chakwah nallah, just around 8 kms ahead of Batote, a massive land slide hit the Batote-Kishtwar road leading to suspension of movement of vehicular traffic. He said a large number of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the highway since early morning up to 4.30 pm today. The BRO cleared the highway at around 4.30 pm and restored traffic. He said there was no rain in the area but the rocks suddenly departed from the mountain, leading to closure of the road. It took long time to the Traffic and local Police men to clear the area from traffic jam.
