JAMMU, Sept 10: A one day exhibition of Basohli paintings was organized today by Indian Art Centre in the premises of Government Women College Gandhi Nagar.
The exhibition was inaugurated by chief guest, Sat Sharma, MLA and State BJP president. Guest of honours were Dr Kiran Bakshi and Ajay Pargal, Member, Roggi Kalya Samitti, Gandhi Nagar and senior BJP leader while Rekha Mahajan, District president of BJP Mahilla Morcha and Ishant Gupta, State secretary, BJP Youth, were special guests.
The organizers of exhibition were Poonam Bhalgotra, chief organizer, MK Wadhera, Organizer artist besides Ritu Wadhera, Ajay Kumar, Mridual, Svita Jena and Archanan Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that it is a good initiative to promote and teach students about Basohli art. He added that these types of talent should be promoted on higher scales. He also interacted with the students and gave a look to the paintings made by the artists. Sat Sharma also distributed gifts among the students.
MK Wadhera said that he used to teach all the students about how to make paintings. He added that Ch Lal Singh is the chief patron of Indian Art Centre. Ajay Pargal also interacted with the students.
Ram K Murtti, Principal Blooming Dale, Nanak Nagar, Jammu, Meeru Abrol, HOD Mathematics, GWC Gandhi Nagar, Kishan Kishore, Principal, Rainbow Public School, Rampura, Gandhi Nagar, Prof (Dr) Ashu Vashist (English), GWC Gandhi Nagar, Prof Anita Sharma (Mathematics), GWC Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, were also present.
The students who won the prizes were Jaideep Singh from Doon International School, Striti Bhougal from RM Public School, Nandini Gill from MNK Public School and Sneha Sharma from Presentation Convent School.
