JAMMU, July 31: BJP senior leader and JMC Councilor, Sanjay Kumar Baru visited to the spot in Lane No 8 opposite Kabir Nagar in Ward No 41 to meet the family members of Labourer Raki Devi who died during the recently flash flood.
After listening to the family members of bereaved family and local residents, Sanjay Baru demanded early compensation to the family by the Government and condemned the non-seriousness attitude of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) administration.
Talking to the media, Baru said that on the request of local residents he approached to the higher officials of concerned department for the construction of damaged protection walls over the nallha at different places in both the wards 40 and 41 before rainy season, but nobody took any action and now more and more protection walls are damaged after every flash flood at different places. He further said that our innocent people are under constant life threat in the rainy season. Moreover water overflows and enters into the houses of people residing in Colonel Colony, Durga Nagar, Wazir Lane and Kabir Nagar and in the recently flash flood another protection wall of the Nallha got damaged and innocent Labourer namely Raki Devi died on spot and her husband was hospitalized after the water entered into the Joggie. People of the locality are facing a grave threat if immediate steps are not taken by the authorities.
Baru appealed to the LG administration to give approval on priority to DPR for construction of Nallah from Akhnoor road to Chaman Vihar, which is lying in the Secretariat for last more than three years.
Ragvir Singh, Satish Kumar, Harbajan Singh, Surinder Sharma and local residents accompanied the councilor.
