JAMMU, Aug 25: Bar Association Jammu today urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Law Minister, Ali Mohd Sagar to consider the genuine demand of lawyers fraternity regarding amendment in J&K House and Shop Rent Control Act whereby the powers have been delegated to the revenue officers instead of judicial officers.
In a statement, Mohd Usman Salaria, vice-president of Bar Association Jammu said, “this is the genuine demand of thousands of Advocates of J&K High Court and Subordinate Courts and Chief Minister should personally look into the matter and vest the powers to adjudicate upon the cases pertaining to landlord and tenant under Rent Control Act to the Judicial Officers”.
“The Bar Association Jammu and Kashmir Bar Association are ready to discuss the issue as and when meeting is fixed by the Chief Minister so that the problem being faced by Advocates and litigants of the State is redressed at the earliest”, he said.
