Barley futures rise on spot demand

NEW DELHI, Aug 10: Barley prices strengthened by Rs 15 to Rs 1,648 per quintal in futures trade today as investors created fresh positions in line with emerging physical markets.
Marketmen said tight stock position amid brisk demand from beer makers in the spot markets supported the uptrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley for delivery in September gained Rs 15, or 0.92 per cent, to Rs 1,648 per quintal with an open interest of 7,010 lots.
Also, the delivery of the August contract advanced by Rs 10.50 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 1,618 per quintal with an open interest of 1,720 lots. (PTI)
