Bar declares holiday on Maharaja’s birthday today

JAMMU, Sept 22: Various organizations have demanded declaration of September 23, the birthday of former ruler of the J&K Maharaja Hari Singh as State holiday.
J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu, held a meeting here, today under the chairmanship of its president, B.S. Slathia, senior advocate, in which issue regarding declaration of holiday  on the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji , the modern architect of the State of J&K was discussed threadbare. The members present in the meeting were of the view that the people of State of J&K are with India holding the National Flag very high only because of Maharaja Hari Singh.
The members felt highly gratified to the contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh in the socio -political & religious reforms in the State. It was Maharaja Hari Singh Ji who established High Court of Judicature in 1928 in the State to bring it at par with the progress of the country. The Bar Association, Traders Organizations, transporters, Team Jammu, JPPF, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), National Panthers Party, Congress, National Conference, Panun Kashmir and other KP organisations, sitting MLC of PDP namely Vikramaditya Singh and all other religious & social organizations have time and again raised the issue of declaring the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh as Holiday in the State with the State Government, however, to no avail .
Keeping in view the aspirations of the nationalistic public of the State, the Bar  Association has decided to celebrate the auspicious day of birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh  on  September, 23 , at District Court Complex, Janipur here and on account of the failure of the Coalition Government in fulfilling the genuine aspiration of the people which failed to take a  decision in this regard, the Bar Association unanimously in consultation with all other organizations  decided to declare 23rd of September 2017 as holiday to celebrate the auspicious day of Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary.
The  members have been requested to Assemble in Shed No.3 at 9 AM to grace the occasion and  on this account work in all the courts including the High Court, Tribunals & Commissions etc shall remain suspended for the day. All the  sister Bar Associations are also informed to join in celebration of the ceremony and observe  holiday in the respective  Bar Associations.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Shiv Sena has also demanded that September 23 be declared as a State holiday. The demand was made by Sena leaders including its State president Vikram Kapoor and State general secretary, GI Singh and Dinesh Choudhary at a press conference here today.
They said keeping in view the sentiments of the people the Government should declare September 23 as a gazetted holiday.
Jammu Kashmir Nationalist Movement has endorsed its support to the demand of vast sections of Jammu civil society that the State Government should declare September 23 as a State holiday to commemorate the birthday of Late Maharaja Hari Singh the last Dogra ruler of the State. JKNM also recognised the contribution of Maharaja in reforming and modernizing the State and running its administration along secular and egalitarian lines.
The organisation also endorsed the view that the hitherto suppressed true history of Kashmir should be re-written to bring out the real facts for the knowledge of future generations, a JKNM convener and a well known writer Dr K N Pandita said in a handout issued here today.
Former Minister, R.S Chib has also demanded declaration of September 23 as State holiday.
