Bankers celebrate 50 years of nationalisation of banks

JAMMU, July19: Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation here today celebrated 50 years of nationalisation of banks in India.
In a function organised to celebrate the day a large number of employees and officers belonging to different nationalised banks gathered at Punjab National Bank (PNB), Kachhi Chawani.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Pradhan, General Secretary of PNB Officers Association threw light on the role of public sector banks and called these banks as building institutions of nation.
Arun Gupta, General Secretary of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation said that banking sector has entered a danger zone with non-stop increase in bad loans.
He further said that non-performing assets in the banks have reached alarming proportions.
He further said that the authorities concerned should act against the wilful defaulters.
At the end he appealed to the bank employees and officers to improve customer services.
Vinod Kumar, Tara Singh, Kamal Kumar, Rakesh Gupta, R.K Bhat and many others were also present.
