Bani Zone facing shortage of teachers, people protest

KATHUA, July 30: The Bani zone of Kathua district is facing the shortage of teachers in various schools and the students are paying the price as the schools are without teaching staff and this way they can’t fare well in the examination.  The parents and students of Government Higher Secondary school Sandroon, raised protest demonstration against the Education Department and raised slogans against the Government.
They also submitted a memorandum of demands to SDM Bani Ajeet Singh about the shortage of teachers in the school and problems faced by students on this account and it has become a cause of worry of their parents also.
Ghulam Hyder Malik ex Deputy Speaker and senior NC leader alleged that the Education Department is not interested to facilitate the school of hilly and Farflung areas. He said that against the 13 post of teachers in Government High School Sandroon, Bani only three teachers are engaged in the school against thick strength of 220 students. He alleged that three teachers were transferred from the school in recent past but no one was adjusted in place of them. Despite approaching the concerning Education Department Officer number of times no one paid attention to post the teachers in place of transferred teachers.  The school was already facing the shortage of seven teachers, the transfer of three more teachers created a big vacuum in the school and students are suffering. The neighboring schools are also facing the same situation and students and their parents are worried of such situation in these circumstances. They warned to come to streets and block the Bani road if their demands are not met at earliest. The SDM Bani assured them to highlights their issue before the concerning Department.
