Bani people decry shortage of medicare facilities in SDH

KATHUA, Oct 23: The inhabitants of Bani have expressed grave concern over the shortage of doctors and para medical staff in the Sub District Hospital, Bani and urged the authorities of Health and Medical Education Department to look into the same as the people of this far flung area were facing many hardships in absence of proper medicare facilities.
The residents through Mudasar Ali a social activist of the area said that the people suffering with ailments are facing many hardships due to lack of proper medicare facilities in the area. He said the Bani SDH is facing the shortage of doctors. He said the ECG facilities are not available in the SDH and in the event of emergency a heart patient has to go for a private ECG. He said when a delivery case, injury case or any other type of patient is brought to the Hospital the doctor on duty loses no time in referring the patient to GMC Kathua or GMC Jammu. He said while Jammu is 235 kilometers and Kathua is 154 kms away from Bani.
He said SDH Bani has become a referral hospital as neither any specialist is available in the Hospital nor the proper equipments or machinery is available for testing and treatment. He said in the event of transfer of a doctor he or she is not replaced by a reliever and the post remains vacant. Under such circumstances where the poor people of this remote and hilly belt will go, he asked?
