Bandhu’s Dogri short stories to be celebrated internationally

JAMMU, May 11: Bandhu Sharma’s Dogri short-stories are going to be celebrated internationally.
This is the first time that Dogri is being celebrated internationally by organizing reading sessions of Bandhu Sharma’s short stories in England, Australia, Switzerland, the Sultanate of Oman, the United States of America, and in Delhi and Mumbai. The two stories to be read are “Agg Te Lau” and “Rangli Chidi” from Meel Patthar, his collection of short stories that won 2001’s Sahitya Academy Award.
The reading session in Jammu will be organized at KL Saigal Hall on May 13 where noted radio announcer and literary figure Sudesh Raj will read “Rangli Chidi” while “Agg Te Lau” will be read by Chattarpal, author of several Dogri books. The reading session in Jammu will be live on Facebook page of Voice of Dogras, an NGO working towards history, culture and literature of Dogra community.
Bandhu Sharma was a distinguished figure in Dogri literary world. His works are emotionally moving and reflect his careful study and observation of the society. In the short span of literary life published three books of Dogri short stories, Parshamein, Keengre and Meel Pathhar, and one book of essays on music of Duggar land, Sur Dharti De. His family has come together to organize this event, eighteen years after his death, to pay tribute to the writer.
