Islamabad, Aug 31: A series of terrorist attacks in the Balochistan province of Pakistan were orchestrated to disrupt the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in October, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said.
“Recent spate of terrorist attacks in Balochistan was planned to ruin a Pakistan-hosted SCO summit scheduled for October,” Naqvi said on Friday.
The SCO Summit in Pakistan is planned for October 15-16.
On Monday, more than 50 Pakistani citizens, including 14 police officers, were killed in several terrorist attacks and subsequent shootouts between security forces and militants in Balochistan province.
Among the victims were 23 passengers of an intercity bus, ethnic Punjabis, who were shot by the militants. (UNI)
