SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Jammu and Kashmir Awami Forum (JKAF) president, Farooq Ahmad Ghanai, today said the ballot and not the bullet is the solution to the problems of the State and announced their participation in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
While announcing their participation in the upcoming Panchayat elections, he said the elections would allow them to link all the regions of the State.
“In the local body elections we have candidates from Srinagar and Jammu only. But, our candidates will contest the upcoming Panchayat election from Ladakh as well. The candidates in all the regions would help us to bring the regions together,” he said addressing a press conference.

Ghanai said that that gun has no role in the society and should be kept away from it, “The guns should be used at borders and kept away from the society. Ballot is the solution to all the problems of the contemporary world.”
He said people still believe in the ballot and want to redress their issues through it. “People still believe in the ballot but we need to adopt a right approach to deal with their issues,” he said.
He informed out of total 32 candidates that the forum fielded in the civic body polls over twenty won elections. “Our candidates have won in both Jammu and Kashmir regions,” he said, the upcoming Panchayat election would help us free the society from all evils.
He, however, said the forum was launched to end the socials evils but long pending political issues of the state forced them to jump into politics. “Considering the problems the people are facing due to the prevailing political problems the forum jumped into politics. We want a society which is free from corruption, addiction, and violence,” he said.
“JKAF has played important role to lend voice to the sentiments of civil society after thousands of people had come out to support message of peace and harmony by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar during his visit to the valley on 10th March this year”, the president of the Forum said, adding “Sri Sri had addressed unprecedented gathering and delegations at SKICC lawns and since then Kashmiris have been coming out against militancy”.
