JAMMU, May 21: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today inaugurated one-day blood donation camp organized by the Sant Nirankari Mission in association with the Blood Transfusion Department, Government Medical College, Jammu at Nirankari Bhawan, Domana today.
The Sant Nirankari Mission, which is a large social organization with world-wide network of its branches, organizes blood donation camps, free medical camps, eye camps and other social activities round the year across the country and large number of poor patients avail benefits out of these events.
The Mission also extends helping hands to the poor and destitute for their livelihood and better living. In today’s camp, more than 150 volunteers from across Jammu division donated blood.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister lauded the philanthropic initiatives of the Mission, saying that the organization is doing yeoman’s service for the mankind during the past over three decades by organizing free medical camps, blood donation camps and other social events. He said the organization has set a unique example of donating more than 8 lakh units of blood till date and saved numerous human lives, for which the other such organizations will take inspiration and come forward to contribute in the social services. He appealed the youth to generously donate blood for saving the precious lives.
Urging the social and religious organizations to make collective efforts in bringing reforms in the society, the Minister said that the social evils like dowry, drug addiction and female feticide are spreading fast, which need to be weeded out to ensure a prosperous and progressive future. He stressed the need for educating the younger generation about the rich Indian values and culture, so that they remained connected with their roots and contribute for the development of mankind.
