JAMMU, May 13: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today visited GMC, Jammu and took stock of medicare and infrastructural facilities there.
While inspecting various wards and units of the College, the Minister issued instructions to the Principal and other functionaries to take all necessary steps to further improve the health care with special focus on cleanliness in the hospital premises. He called for putting in place best mechanism to handle the heavy rush of patients in the emergency block.
During the visit, the Minister extensively discussed the entire plan related to the upgradation of services in the GMC with the Principal, Dr. Sunanda Raina, Managing Director, JKPCC, Daleep Thussu and other functionaries of the College.
The issues which came under discussion included, construction of two modern entry gates and complete face-lifting of entire campuses, construction of pre-fabricated sheds for attendants with all basic amenities adjacent to police post, upgradation of emergency block including layout of beds for patients and separate entry and exit gate, interlinking of two floors of emergency block with Chopra Nursing Home, construction of overhead bridge connecting Girls Hostel, construction of sub-way connecting Medical College with CD Hospital, Psychiatry and Super Specialty block, multi-tier underground parking lot with provision of 100 beds additional block of emergency over the parking area, construction of separate Bone and Joint Department with Spinal Centre and Rehabilitation Center in the premises of CD Hospital on idle space.
The Minister directed the MD, JKPCC to prepare the DPRs for the proposed projects within two weeks so that the funds are arranged for the same. He said that GMC and its associated hospitals are serving as lifeline to the people of entire Jammu division and also catering to the needs of lakhs of pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji from throughout the world, and in view of huge rush of patients the Government is committed to create best and all modern diagnostic facilities for the patients.
