JAMMU, Sep 12: Bali Bhagat, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Minister has slammed the PAGD and other Jammu based political parties for making yet another attempt to mislead the people of Jammu region over the issue of inclusion of non-locals in the electoral rolls of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, today, Bali Bhagat said that these political parties having lost their ground in Jammu and Kashmir are trying to regain some space by making issues out of non-issues by misleading the people across the Union Territory. He said that it is really shameful on the part of the so called PAGD and its leaders having ganged up with some people of Jammu to spread blatant lies about the non-local voters participating in the impending Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The senior BJP leader asserted that as per the Representation of People Act 1950 and 1951 any ordinarily residing person can get registered in electoral rolls of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this rule is applicable across the nation including the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that J&K is not an alien territory for India where the PAGD leaders allege that allowing non-local voters’ participation in Assembly elections is unconstitutional. He said that this is not something new but non local voters have voted in Parliamentary elections held previously in the erstwhile State of J&K.
Asserting that the Union Government led by PM Modi decides and implements every decision with full determination, Bali Bhagat said that all the decisions are taken by this Government as per the nation’s Constitution and its mandate. He accused the PAGD leaders along with some non entities in Jammu of spreading canards and false propaganda with the sole aim of disturbing the peace in this Union Territory.
Bali Bhagat said that the NC, PDP and Congress have always promoted and propagated separatist ideologies as they never want peace in Jammu and Kashmir. But the times have changed today and there is no acceptability of such leaders and ideologies in the peaceful atmosphere of J&K and the people are sane enough in seeing the game plan behind such moves and not getting fooled by them.
