Bali Bhagat asks people to avail benefits of SWD schemes

JAMMU, Feb 17: The Department of Social Welfare organized one day awareness camp at Kot in Raipur Domana Constituency  in which former Minister Social Welfare and Forest,  Environment and Ecology and MLA of the Constituency Bali Bhagat was the chief guest.
A large number of local people also attended the camp. Mr Bhagat in his address appealed the people to avail the benefits of the scheme being implemented by the Social Welfare Department as it is the only department which is directly associated with the poor for their upliftment.
He said that with a short span the previous Government has introduced many schemes for the upliftment of the weaker section of the society such as Aasra, Ladli Beti, Huna and State marriage Assistance Scheme in which Rs 25000 and the cost of five grams of gold is being given to such marriageable girls who are in the survey list already conducted by the ICDS so that the poor parents of the girl don’t feel the burden of girl  and also  girls who are in survey list should contact district Social Welfare Officer of the concerned district to enroll themselves for vocational training  so that they can be trained in such a trade of their choice so that they can earn their livelihood, can lead a happy life and stand on their own legs and cannot be burden on their parents. Likewise Aasra scheme all those breadwinners who have income less than Rs 75000  per annum are requested to enroll themselves under  free insurance  Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Bima Surekha Yojana to get the benefit of free insurance and security for their family.
While elaborating the  MLA also laid stress to enroll the girls who were born after 1.4.2015 onwards  under the Scheme Ladli Beti  in which the Government  will deposit Rs 1000  per month in  account  of the girl child  up to the age of 16 years and the amount shall remain  in the bank and will be given Rs 6.50 lakh when  that girl  attains the age of 21 years.
Further Kulraj Singh District Social Welfare Officer Jammu, while giving the resumes of the scheme also laid stress on the skill development under SCA to SC SP in which only SC candidates are to be imparted training in driving JCB operators  Plumber Electrician computer courses cutting & tailoring and beauticians courses under skill development so that the beneficiaries after taking training can be able to earn their livelihoods at their own  and make themselves as self dependent.  During the programme the MLA also distributed the  prematric scholarship to SC & OBC students amounting  to Rs 18.50 lakh and also distributed Motorised Tricycles to the four physically challanged  beneficiaries namely  Geeta Devi, Karan Singh , Anita Kumari  and Veena Devi   of his constituency.
