Balbir Singh demands Rs 10 lakh compensation for Bani flood victims

KATHUA, July 22: Ex MLC and senior Congress leader, Th Balbir Singh asked the LG Government to immediately release Rs 10 lakh compensation to each Bani land sliding families and Machhedi flood victims for their rehabilitation.
He criticized the Government for its failure in helping the victim families who lost their near and dear ones and houses in Bani land sliding that took place few days back in which eight persons including four children were buried alive at Surjan and two school girls of Machhedi were washed away in flash floods.
He said that Rs 50,000 to victim families Rs 25000 to injured from Red Cross is joke with them.
Th Balbir Singh was on three days tour to flood affected areas of Bani. He along with number of Congress leaders and workers has visited Surjan after traveling miles on foot.
He met the victim families and condoled the unfortunate death of family members in land sliding and showed full sympathy with affected people. He also handed over the immediate relief of Rs one lakh to victim families and assured the full help in future also. Th. Balbir Singh also met people and listened their woes. They told him that havoc was created y flash flood. The people are suffering a lot for want of basic amenities, they added.
Alir Singh alleged that the LG Government has failed to restore the basic amenities for affected people. Even the flood and land sliding victims were not given the basic facilities. The Government is dependent upon mere money of Red Cross. No announcement by Government has been made in favour of victims to rehabilitate them.
He has appealed the LG to immediately announce Rs ten lakh for each flood victim family, construction of houses by Government, providing of house hold item like free utensils, ration and bedding items.
He also criticized BJP leadership for its failure in visiting the affected area. Even the Ex MLA and MP did not pay visit to victim families and did not announce any ex-gratia from his MP land Fund.
He was accompanied by Congress leader Naresh Sharma, Kajal Rajput and others.
