JAMMU, Jan 19: Balbir Ram, a resident of Jammu city, whose activities inter alia included social activism for causes related to common masses since long and in recognition of his caliber, has been nominated as Member of Central Advisory Committee (CAC) for Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) by Government of India.
It was intimated to Balbir Ram through an official communication from Director, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
The communication said that Balbir Ram has been nominated as a non-official member of CAC, which has Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment as its Chairperson and Minister of Rural Development as Co-Chairperson with two MPs from Lok Sabha and one from Rajya Sabha and senior Government officials of different ministries and few prominent social activists from various states.
Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the birth anniversary of Jai Prakash Narayan.
