Balbir hands over wheel chair to Pak firing victim

JAMMU, Mar 8: Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation rendered yet another yeoman’s service to a woman today, which will go a long way in betterment of her life ahead.
Continuing with his mission of serving the needy and extending help to them, Chairperson of the Corporation, Balbir Ram Rattan, went all the way to village Chachwal of Rajpura Tehsil falling in Samba district and handed over a wheel chair to a woman Vijay Kumari, who was rendered disabled due to firing from across the border. Ironically, she had this disability neither from her birth nor due to any accident, but due to injuries she received from firing from across the border.
When the Vice Chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan came to know of the case about this woman, who was injured in firing from across the border few years ago, he took swift action into the matter. She had become100 per cent disabled and was in need of a wheel chair. The VC approached Red Cross for help and his request was honoured within a week. In a prompt gesture, a wheel chair was released for the victim.
Balbir, while interacting with Vijay Kumari, said that although she has been rendered physically disabled with almost limited movement of lower body. She is displaying courage to live like others, which is indeed an example for such people who are physically disabled.
“Her story is indeed tragic but at the same time, she is an inspiration for other such people who become disabled due to mishaps”, Balbir said adding that this woman has been showing exemplary courage all through her traumatic life.
As for providing financial help in the form of loan from the Corporation to Vijay Kumari to set up own earning unit, Balbir asked her to avail the same and become self reliant instead of being dependent upon others.
Samba district president Jangveer Singh also accompanied the VC to village Chachwal.
