JAMMU, July 4: Former Rajya Sabha member and senior leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Trilok Singh Bajwa today asked the government to continue one year BEd course for students of Jammu province like their counterparts in Kashmir Valley.
Addressing a group of educated students who called on him to apprise him of the recent decision of the University to Jammu to enhance period of one year to two years for BEd course in all institutions in Jammu province. He expressed surprise that Jammu and Kashmir is single state but two para-meters have been set up for students of Kashmir Valley and Jammu province.
While in Kashmir Valley tenure of BEd course is just one year but it is two years in Jammu province. “This disparity should be removed because there is strong resentment among students of Jammu province against this discriminatory policy of Jammu University”, he said.
Former Rajya Sabha member asked BJP leadership to take this issue with the Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister to solve this issue.
Bajwa further asked the State Government to start a comprehensive employment policy for the youth of Jammu province in general and border areas in particular. He also demanded a special employment package for unemployed youth of rural areas of Jammu province.
