NEW DELHI, May 16: Prices of bajra and barley firmed up by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to increased offtake by consuming industries.
However, rice basmati lacked necessary buying support and eased.
Traders said increased offtake by consuming industries against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in bajra and barley prices.
In the national capital, bajra and barley were up by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,240-1,245 and Rs 1,320-1,325 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety slipped to Rs 5,600-5,800 and Rs 4,500-5,600 against last close of Rs 5,800-6,000 and Rs 4,600-5,800 per quintal respectively.
