JAMMU, Apr 11: In connection with upcoming Baisakhi Festival, the Cultural Wing of Information Department today organized a scintillating cultural programme in Bal Niketan Ved Mandir at Ambphalla.
On the occasion, Joint Director of Information Smita Sethi was the chief guest while President Bal Niketan Ved Mandir Capt Parshotam Sharma presided over the function.
Secretary Bal Niketan Ved Mandir M. M. Mengi, Assistant Director Information Vivek Phonsa, Cultural Officer Information Department Raman Joshi besides other members of Bal Niketan Ved Mandir including students in large numbers witnessed the cultural programme at the venue.
The artists of cultural wing of Information Department presented colourful cultural items namely Jeevan Sharma, Vijay Anand, Surjit Singh Sumbaria, Sunil Sharma, Sonali Dogra, Zulikha Frid, Kamal Kumar, Bodh Raj, Bunty Kumar and Lucky enthralled the audience with Dogri, Punjabi and Pahari items.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sethi said the cultural programme aims at encouraging the students of the institution and to provide healthy and entertaining atmosphere. She assured that such events would also be organized in future in similar institutions for educating the children about rich culture and heritage of the State.
She said that Baisakhi Festival is harbinger of peace and prosperity of the people and also promotes mutual brotherhood and communal harmony.
On the occasion, the Joint Director of Information also distributed sweets among the students of Bal Niketan Ved Mandir.
