Bail denied to charas smuggler

JAMMU, Dec 18: Principal Sessions Judge Samba Mohd Akram Chowdhary has rejected the bail application of one Vinod Dubey, son of Ram Krishan of Vijaypur, who was nabbed with charas by Bari Brahmana Police Station.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Javed Khawaja for the State whereas Advocate Ganesh Sharma for the applicant, the court observed, “the offence of which the applicant has been accused carries punishment of 10 years imprisonment and fine of Rs 1 lakh and given to the severity of punishment, the offence is serious in nature”.
“Otherwise also the menace of trade and use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance has become alarming to society in general and young generation in particular”, the court said, adding “this menace is required to be curbed with a heavy hand as it is eating into vitals of the polity”.
“The case of applicant is at initial stage of investigation and in my considered opinion, having regards to the facts and circumstances of the case, particularly the serious nature of offence, the applicant is not entitled to grant of bail at this stage”, the court said while rejecting the bail application.
