JAMMU, Dec 16: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu rejected the bail application of a fraudster.
As per official spokesman, a written complaint was lodged by Dr Gafoor Ahmed of Main Bazaar Akhnoor, Ravinder Singh Jasrotia, Rajinder Singh Andotra and Dr Syed Shayan in Crime Branch Jammu against accused Sudip Syama Chakrabarty for alluring the complainants to provide admission in private Medical Colleges for MD and MS courses in Ramiah Medical College Bangalore and duped them of an amount of Rs 1.53 crores.
After preliminary verification of the complaints, a formal case under FIR Number 24/2019 under Section 420 and 120-B of RPC was registered in Police Station Crime Branch Jammu, the spokesman said, adding that the documentary evidences and oral statements have helped establish cheating and fraud committed by the accused Sudip Syama Chakrabarty, son of Shyama Chakrabarty of 30-A/2AA Nai Awadi Kishore Ganj, Taj Ganj, Uttar Pradesh, at present H No 1903 Galaxy Royal, Prem Nagar Tee Dongri Goregaon (W), City Mumbai.
“The clever and cunning accused was evading arrest and had fled abroad. Crime Branch Jammu kept on following the accused and had also issued Look Out Circular through Immigration Department. As soon as the accused Chakarbarty landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Mumbai-India, he was arrested by Crime Branch Jammu and was brought to Jammu under proper custody in order to conclude the investigation of case on merits”, the spokesman informed.
The Court has rejected the bail application of the accused observing that accused is a resident of UAE and was evading his arrest since long. However, with the help of Immigration Department accused has been arrested after Look out Circular was issued against the accused. The accused is presently in judicial custody.
The objections filed also raised the facts that in case the accused is granted bail the recovery from him will become difficult and the other similar elements in the society will feel encouraged, the spokesman stated.
