JAMMU, June 5: The residents of Bahu Fort today held a protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD).
Large number of people residing in various localities of Bahu Fort assembled under the banner of Bahu Fort Development Committee led by its chairman Baldev Raj Nagotra and raised slogans against PDD.
While speaking, Rajeev Charak said that transformer of 6/6 Sub Transmission Receiving Station PDD Bahu Fort has been damaged for the past over six months back but the authorities did not take any step to get it repaired. He said that we have approached the concern authorities many time but they did not consider towards it.
“I also aware the MoS PDD Vikar Rasool Wani telephonically about the said damaged transformer, who in his reply promised to issue necessary order and directions to the concerned authorities for its repairmen but till date nothing has been done”, Charak added.
He added that in this area maximum people belong to BPL and SC community who have no source of income. They have been getting the facility of electricity since past 50 years. Now the authorities of the department have been cutting their connection in the ongoing summer season and period of examination of their children.
He warned the department of dire consequences if necessary steps not taken in this regard.
