The picturesque sanctuary heralds the arrival of spring in Kashmir, drawing visitors from far and wide to witness nature’s breathtaking transition.
Situated at the base of the majestic Hari Parbat, also known as Koh-i-Maran, the garden boasts over a thousand almond trees, all in splendid bloom, spanning over 300 kanals of land.
Tourists and locals alike are mesmerized by the camaraderie of delicate white and pink almond blossoms adorning the landscape. “The combination of pink and white flowers has given it an unmatched beauty. This is what makes Kashmir heaven on earth, as every season has its own charm. There are so many bad notions about Kashmir, but there is nothing like that here,” Sadia Khan, a tourist from Kerala, said.
For Sangeeta, a first-time visitor from New Delhi, the sight of the blossoming almonds served as an unparalleled inauguration to her trip. “This is a completely different garden. This is my first visit to the Valley, and I have never seen anything like this. This is the best curtain raiser of my trip,” she said, awestruck by the enchanting display.
Badamwari Garden holds significant cultural, traditional, and heritage value, with its origins dating back to the 14th century. After a period of neglect, it was revived and officially opened to the public in 2008, and since then, the allure of Badamwari has captivated thousands of tourists every season.
Mona, a tourist from Mumbai, lauded not only the garden’s enchanting beauty but also its safety for families and children. While highlighting the serene ambiance of the park, she said:”This is so quiet that you do not have to worry about your children. It is safe and secure, and in short, a perfect family place,” she said.
