JAMMU, Jan 13: Despite series of protests against working style of Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) by residents of different areas in Jammu for not completing the works properly, the Housing and Urban Development Department which is mandated to frame policies, prepare plans and schemes for growth of urban areas and to provide civic amenities in urban areas has failed drastically to ensure quality work.
A handout stated that UEED’s 10 MLD sewerage Plant by Oasis Company is creating nuisance for general public of Bhagwati Nagar area as its operation is badly polluting the area putting precious lives at stake that too amidst COVID-19 scare.
Locals of Bhagwati Nagar today staged a protest demonstration against UEED and claimed that UEED left the work incomplete threatening lives of large number of people.
The protesters said that they have informed the concern department several times and but nothing fruitful emerged.
They appealed the authorities to look in the matter at the earliest.
Locals appealed to J&K Pollution Control Board to intervene and act against company whose working style has put lives of people in the area in danger.
