MUMBAI : Bollywood has lent its support to the hundreds of people who are stranded in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.
Celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Anupam Kher, Farhan Akhtar among others took to Twitter to offer their prayers for controlling the worsening situation in the Bollywood’s favourite shooting destination.
“Hope and Pray the flood situation in Kashmir gets controlled sooner than soon,” Shah Rukh tweeted.
Shah Rukh’s ‘Happy New Year’ co-star Boman Irani wrote, “Praying for abatement of floods in Kashmir. Courage to the rescuers and patience and faith to an anguished people,”
Farhan also wished luck to the rescue team.
“Thoughts are with all the families affected by the floods in Kashmir and wishing the rescue teams all the best in their efforts. #weR1,” he wrote.
Torrential rains triggered flooding, landslides and house collapses in the state. Thousands of people from water-logged areas have been moved to safer places but many people have been trapped in upper stories of their homes in low-lying areas of the city.
“Horrifying visuals of floods in Jammu & Kashmir. My prayers for everyone’s safety and well being,” Kher posted on Twitter.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri wrote, “A common man can’t do much at this time but often prayers help. Let’s pray for our Kashmiri brothers. #FloodsInJammuKashmir,” while Pakistani actor Ali Zafar said, “Floods. People. Help. Pray.” (AGENCIES)
