B D Bhagat passes away

JAMMU, Nov 22:  Former Chairman of  SSRB and retired IAS officer, Bua Ditta Bhagat died this morning after a brief illness.
His last rites were performed at  Shakti Nagar Cremation Ground, Jammu this evening and large number of people from all walks of life, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and  National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana attended the funeral.
B D Bhagat breathed his last at CMC Ludhiana where he was admitted for the treatment.
Known as an honest and outstanding officer, late B D Bhagat  was  honoured  with the State Award for Honesty during his tenure as SSRB Chairman. He had also served in various other departments and made his mark in the administration as well as in the society for his higher qualities and work done.
After his retirement from the Government services early this year, he had joined National Conference.  He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
Besides attending the funeral, Omar Abdullah met the bereaved family and condoled the sad demise of Bhagat.  He said that in the death of Bua Ditta, the society has lost a noble soul and a social worker. The Chief Minister said the death of Bua Ditta was  also a great loss to National Conference as the deceased  was highly enthusiastic to work for the party and betterment of the people.
