Azad to inaugurate FMRP on July 13

DODA, July 7 : Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is going to   launch the ‘First Medical Responder Programme’ (FMRP) in the erstwhile district from July 13.
First such programme in the State being launched in collaboration with State Red Cross Society, the programme aims at to train local youth as volunteers to ensure quick response in case of calamity or disaster to minimize the loss of human lives.
The youth would be  trained in  providing first aid, launch rescue & search,  disaster management, family news service, maintain water supply & sanitation, health and hygiene, besides man and manage camps- the activities which will help to save precious lives during any eventuality,  said Roma Wani, Honorary General Secretary, State Red Cross Society in a media interaction today at Doda.
She said that First Medical Responder (FMR) Programme is an initiative of Indian Red Cross to save lives during calamities and disasters through training the local volunteers including the girls. She said that from 13th of July 2013, National Headquarter IRCS will convene a training course for volunteers from across the erstwhile Doda District including Kishtwar and Ramban Districts at Bhaderwah.
She said Bhaderwah has been selected for launch of the FMR programme as it was the epicentre of the recent earthquake that shook the entire Chenab valley recently.
She said the programme will spread the skills among volunteers called first medical responders and then in their own communities and beyond, which would help in saving precious lives during any eventuality or natural calamity such as earthquakes, floods, mishaps, etc. She also said that the training will be provided to the volunteers by the Master Trainers of Indian Red Cross Society National Headquarters and Master Trainers of State Red Cross.
She also revealed that the Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society who happens to be the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, G.N Azad will inaugurate the programme in Bhaderwah along with Secretary General Indian Red Cross Society National Level, S.P Aggarwal.
