Azad launches mobile vaccine vans for children

JAIPUR, Aug 1:National Teeka Express, an initiative to protect children from life-threatening diseases, was launched by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in Rajasthan’s Alwar district today.
“Vaccines of seven deadly diseases will be distributed in villages and hamlets under this scheme. This affirms our commitment to vaccinate children in remote areas,” Azad said during the inauguration ceremony of the programme here.
Appreciating Rajasthan Government’s role, Azad said other states should also follow and effectively implement health and medical related schemes of the Centre in order to provide relief to the common man.
Under this scheme, over 1,000 vehicles would be used to distribute vaccines and complementary logistics in 69 high priority districts, an official release said.
The vehicles would also serve as a mobile healthcare delivery unit in these areas.
Starting today, in the first phase of the scheme, six districts of Alwar (Rajasthan), Sharaswati (Uttar Pradesh), Mewat (Haryana), Doda and Poonch (J & K) and Tikamgarh (Madhya Pradesh) have been covered by such 120 vehicles. (PTI)
