Ayurvedic Anorectal checkup camp organized

JAMMU, Mar 28: In continuation to the series of free Anorectal checkup camps, a second check up camp for the needy and deserving section of society was organised by Jammu Institute of Ayurveda & Research, Nardani Jammu in Shri Sai Charitable Trust Hospital Pamposh Colony Janipur.
In this camp,  Dr Sudesh (Associate Professor) and  Dr Sukrant Sharma (Assistant Professor), Dr Akanksha Mahajan (SMO), PG Scholars (Dr Arjun Gupta, Dr Madhu Bala, Dr Shefali Magotra, Dr Bhawna Biloria, Dr Neeru Bharti) Deptt of PG Studies in Shalyla Tantra (surgery), examined patients of anorectal abscess, fistula, piles, fissure and were given free medicines and advised for Kshara Karma and Kshara Sutra.
Public awareness campaign was also run and  people were advised to take plenty of fluids and green leafy vegetables.
Dr Sudesh Gupta said  that the more then 80 percent population in the  age group of 21-50 yrs is suffering from piles, which  is also seen common in pregnant ladies. These diseases are more common now a days because of irregular dietary habits, sedentary life style  and  consumption of more fast food .
The Department of PG Studies in Shalya Tantra is doing many research projects like Kshara Sutra, Kshara Karma, Agnikarma, Jaulakavcharan (leech therapy) in various ano-rectal diseases so that surgery can be avoided. After conducting these procedures patient can resume his/her duties after few hours and can prevent themeselves from various complications of surgery. Many western countries also prefer Kshara Sutra for fistula -in-ano.
In this camp,  a total of 64 patients were examined of piles, fistula, fissure and  12 of  them were advised for para surgical procedure (Kshara Sutra, Kshara Karma etc) free of cost.
The camp was organized under the guidance of Suman Sharma (Chairperson), Ritesh Sharma (MD), Er Ravish Sharma(MD), Dr Raghuvir Singh (Principal) and  Dr Nitin Mahajan (Vice-Principal).
