SAMBA, July 21: With an objective to create awareness among the masses about Swachh Bharat Mission, the district administration organised an interactive session cum awareness programme at DC office complex, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Samba Sheetal Nanda emphasised upon the required change in approach towards cleanliness with focus on adoption of good health practices. She called upon minimal use of polythene bags and evolving efficient mechanism for garbage collection at village level.
She asked the participants to help district administration in making five Panchayats each, of Block Vijaypur and Ramgarh, open defecation free in the initial phase.
In the programme, the participants were asked to put in extra efforts for keeping their surroundings clean and make Swachh Bharat Mission, a success. The participants were also informed about the state and centrally sponsored programmes including IHHL (Individual Household Latrines) and Community Sanitary Complex for keeping the society clean.
The Deputy CMO highlighted the factors that lead to spreading of deadly diseases like Diarrhoea, Jaundice, Hepatitis and other diseases. He advised the participants to drink clean potable water and don’t throw garbage on the streets.
The BDOs asked the participants to lodge a complaint if any against Banquet Hall, Restaurant or Dhaba which operate without Solid Waste Management disposal plan so that action under rules could be taken against the defaulters.
Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, DPO Deepak Dubey, BDO Vijaypur Anirudh Rai, BDO Ramgarh Rakesh Dubey and DyCMO were present in the programme.
