Awareness campaign on environment concludes at GDC Kargil

KARGIL, June 16: A week-long awareness campaign on protection of environment concluded today at Government Degree College (GDC), Kargil.
In this connection, a painting competition was held on June 13 where 50 students of BG I, II and III year participated. Among them Gulzar Hussain Khan, Hakima Banoo and Archo Bilques Fatima adjusted Ist, 2nd and 3rd by a panel of three Judges.
Further an awareness program was organized today by the College in collaboration with District Legal Service Authority. Two burning topics where selected for the said programme viz. Environment Protection and Prevention of Child Labour.
Principal, GDC Kargil, Dr Chander Shekhar, in his welcome note deliberated upon the protection of environment and ask the students not to become mere spectator of changing environment but to act swiftly to mitigate this problems.
This was followed by talk of Amarjeet Singh Langeh, Chief Judicial Magistrate, who introduced the students about the themes and laid stress on awareness of these issues. Four students of BG 3rd Year– Farida Banoo, Yangchan Dolma, Khalida Nasreen and Mohammad, also delivered talk on the subject.
The topic of child labour was further detailed in a very lucid manner by Mohd Amir (senior Advocate) in native Purki Language. This was followed by talk of Gh Murtaza (senior Advocate) and Talib Hussain (secretary, Bar Association Kargil).
Talib Hussain in his talk dealt the chronology of events where Supreme Court came forward for protection of the Environment. Taslim Arif, Principal Session Judge Kargil also threw light on both the topics in a systematic manner.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Tsewang Phuntsog (Munsif, Kargil). Prof Mohd Hussain coordinated the program.
