Awareness camp organized for farmers at Bajalta

JAMMU, Sept 29: In order to promote horticulture in Kandi areas of Jammu district, the Department of Horticulture today organized a one-day farmers’ awareness camp at Bajalta in Block Nagrota.
Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) Jammu Sarabjit Singh, District Level-Subject Matter Specialist (Pomology) Sandeep Gupta, Horticulture Development Officer Dansal Sandeep Sharma, BDC Chairman of Block Nagrota Rehmat Ali, Corporator Sidhra, Madam Mumtaz besides farmers/fruit growers in large number participated in the camp. During the camp, 1500 fruit plants were distributed to 500 families at 90% subsidy under Backyard Horticulture Programme.
Sarabjit Singh, while addressing the farmers/fruit growers, advised them to keep close liaison with the field functionaries of the department to take maximum benefits available under Centrally Sponsored Schemes/State Sectors Schemes. He directed the concerned Horticulture Development Officer to organize more such camps in other areas also so that maximum farmers are benefited.
Sandeep Gupta, while interacting with the participants, briefed them about the different schemes/programs presently under implementation in the district. BDC Chairmen urged the Horticulture department to organize such camps in future also.
