Awareness camp for farmers on fish culture

JAMMU, Dec 18: An awareness programme was organised for the farmers from Pargwal block of Khour in Akhnoor by the Department of Fishries.
About 50 progressive fish farmers from the villages of this block including Hamirpur Kona, Gurha Manhasan, Chakphagwari, Sajwal, Sarwal etc attended the awareness programme. Assistant Director Fishries, Kulbhushan Verma deliberated on various developmental schemes of the Department of Fishries for the welfare of the fish farmers. They were educated about the latest techniques of fish farming.
The farmers were also provided technical demonstration at one of the fish farmer’s pond site, wherein various water parameters like dissolved oxygen, free Carbondioxide, PH value etc were analysed in order to assess water quality, so as to ascertain suitability of pond water for fish culture.
The farmers also projected the problems being faced by them regarding timely non-availability of fish seed, proper feeding pattern and local diseases. They were satisfied by Mr Verma by suggesting various measures. Sarpanch, Falail Singh extended gratitude to the visiting team.
