Srinagar, Apr 17: The authorities today released the pending stipends to the DNB doctors at Government Medical College (GMC) after they went on strike earlier.
The doctors said that the strike was called off on Tuesday evening following assurance from the authorities that the pending stipend would be released without delay.
“Today, the stipend for three months was released; the pending stipends range from 3 to 5 months, however, as of now, we have been given the stipends for 3 months,” the doctors said.
They expressed gratitude to the Secretary, H&ME Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed, and Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr. Ruby Reshi for their timely intervention, ensuring the release of the pending dues.
Earlier, 33 DNB doctors from various parts of the country had protested the non-payment of their stipends despite their duties at the hospital, which ranged from general duties to emergency duties.
The Principal of GMC, Baramulla, had also assured that the matter would be resolved in a few days and that the administration was working to ensure the release of their dues.
