Aus Open: Paes-Hingis storm into mixed doubles final

MELBOURNE : India’s Leander Paes along with Martina Hingis of Switzerland, stormed into the final of the mixed doubles event at the Australian Open here today.
The seventh seeded Indo-Swiss pair thrashed the unseeded Taipei-Uruguay duo of Su-Wei Hsieh and Pablo Cuevas in straight sets (7-5 6-4 ) in the semifinals in an hour and 14 minutes long battle.
Paes and Hingis were made to work hard in the first set but it was an easy outing in the second set and won the match with an ace.
The 41-year-old Indian is looking for his seventh mixed doubles Grand Slam title and 15th title overall. The Indo-Swiss pair will now face the winner of the other semi-final between India’s Sania Mirza-Bruno Soares of Brazil and French-Canadian pair of Kristina Mladenovic-Daniel Nestor which is scheduled later today.
