ATMs in Kathua have gone dry, customers suffer

KATHUA, Jan 11: The ATM card holder bank customers are moving from one ATM to another for want of cash but they return empty handed as all ATMs have gone dry in Kathua town for the reason best known to concerning bank authorities.
Most of the ATMs belong to State Bank of India (SBI) are empty in Kathua township as there are nearly half dozen of ATMs of SBI and all of them are facing cash crises. The SBI drops notes of 100 denomination and 500 denomination in ATMs which turn empty after few transactions.  Even some customers did not get required cash as most of the ATMs have notes of Rs 100 and card holders don’t succeed in making big transactions.
The President of Truck Operators Union Kathua, Ranjit Singh alleged that he is moving from one ATM to another ATM of SBI to withdraw the cash since last three days as he has HDFC Bank Card. But when he visits to ATM he gets disappointed to see the ATM is empty.
He has business of transport and requires cash to pay truck drivers. “But my business is badly affected due to non availiability of cash at ATMs and callousness of Bank authorities”, he added.
An employees of SBI Kathua said that there is shortage of big notes. Now it depends on the higher authority of SBI and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to solve the issue to send big notes of Rs 2000 in maximum number, he added.
