POONCH, Sept 1: Poonch Police today arrested an ATM fraudster in Mendhar area and recovered an amount of Rs 1.10 lakh from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Nisar Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman of Uchhad Salotri. He was arrested following a written complaint by Balquees Begum, wife of Mushtaq Ahmed of Lanjiote Balakote.
As per the complainant, she had gone to Mendhar town on August 17 for withdrawal of money from ATM where she took help of the unknown person. She handed over the ATM and Pin to him and the latter pretended to make attempt of withdrawal and than handed back ATM card saying that her account was blocked. After some days, the victim checked her account and found Rs 1.10 lakh withdrawn. On obtaining CCTV footage of the ATM, where she had gone, said unknown boy was recognised.
Acting on the complaint, a police team headed by SHO Mendhar, Mohd Amin, under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar Reyaz Tantray, raided a location and nabbed the accused
During questioning, accused confessed his crime and later amount was recovered from his home. A case FIR 152/2018 U/S 420 RPC has been registered by police in this regard.
