SRINAGAR: Lashing out at the Opposition for criticising People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for forging a Government with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said before agreeing to a coalition she received an assurance from the highest level at the Centre that no one will touch Article 370.
“Everyone knows that BJP was in favour of revoking Article 370. But we made them agree that no one will touch the Article and it was incorporated in the ‘Agenda of Alliance’. You should be happy that they have agreed to it, instead of that you are pricking them and asking them why they have backed from their stand on the Article,” Ms Mufti said while speaking on the Motion of Thanks on Governor’s address in Legislative Council here today.
Accusing the Opposition of trying to communalise the situation, she said, “When the Government is trying to work for the betterment of the State, why are you racking up such issues. Do you want Article 370 to go? No one can do that, but why is that you are pricking BJP every now and then and trying to communalise the situation,” she said.
Asserting that all the issue mentioned in the agenda of alliance will be fulfilled, she urged the Opposition to give her time to fulfill the dreams of her father and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. (AGENCIES)
