JAMMU, Jan 23: Ahead of the first Budget to be presented by Omar-led Government, a delegation of Bari Brahmana Industries Association and ASSOCHAM submitted Budget suggestions to the Chief Minister.
A delegation from the ASSOCHAM J&K Council, led by its Chairman, Manik Batra, along with Co-Chairman Bhupesh Gupta met with the J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to discuss key issues and present a comprehensive representation aimed at fostering economic growth and development in the region.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted several critical concerns and proposals, including, change of land use for Industrial growth, electricity amnesty scheme for Industrial units, development of tourism circuit in Jammu region, establishment of more warehousing and fulfillment centers in Jammu, conversion of leasehold to freehold, introduction of infrastructure / commercial projects under J&K Incentives and many more.
The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for ASSOCHAM’s proactive approach in addressing the challenges faced by the business and industrial community. He assured the delegation that the Government would review their proposals in detail and take necessary steps to support economic growth in the region.
The delegation of BBIA met Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, presenting a comprehensive list of demands to make their units lucrative.
The Association emphasised the need for extending implementation of turnover-based incentives to support and encourage existing operational industrial units of J&K. It also sought a dedicated budget for working capital interest subvention without any capping, ensuring financial relief to industrial units.
Other demands raised by the association included introduction of price and purchase preferences for local MSMEs to enhance their competitiveness and market share. The delegation also demanded steps to convert leaseholder rights into freehold rights for existing industrial units in J&K.
In addition, they asked for infrastructure upgradation at Industrial Estate Bari Brahmana, GST-Linked Incentives, adoption of ease of doing business principles by all government departments, including onboarding on a single-window system to streamline approvals and processes.
The delegation stressed that these measures are vital for industrial sector’s growth and attracting more investments into the region.
The delegation was led by BBIA president, Lalit Mahajan, with other members of the executive body.
