RAMBAN, June 24: Senior BJP leader and former Legislator Neelam Langeh urged the J&K administration to assess the losses incurred due to recent incessant rains and provide adequate compensation to the affected people.
In a statement issued today, the former MLA from Ramban expressed concern over the damages caused due to vagaries of the weather in the last over couple of days in the UT of J&K and demanded immediate relief for those hit by incessant and unprecedentedly heavy rainfall. He demanded that people be appropriately compensated on account of losses including precious lives, livestock and damage to moveable and immovable property.
The senior BJP leader said that reports pouring have suggested that flash floods have wreaked havoc in many parts of the UT therefore it is the solemn duty of the Government to look after the hapless population and provide timely succor as normal life has been severely hit by the heavy downpour in various areas.
Langeh also demanded immediate repair of damaged infrastructure including road stretches, bridges and other civic edifice. He said that the Government being the welfare state should not waste even a jiffy in providing assistance to affected lot as the rain-hit people have no other place to go and seek help.
He, however, anticipated that the LG Manoj Sinha’s administration would do whatever possible in mitigating the problems of the people hit by flash floods and other miseries arising out of inclement weather conditions that hit the region in the last over two-three days.
