Assembly resolution

Sir,
I appreciate B.L. Saraf’s pragmatic approach to and analysis of (A show of intent DE Jan 31) the debate that has ensued in public domain on the resolution on Pandits recently passed by the Legislative Assembly.  He is right in suggesting that the focus should not be on what lies underneath the resolution but on its positive aspects, and that from here, all stakeholders should move forward to give practical shape to the resolution. He has handled delicate threads of the subject very deftly, and made balanced evaluation of a complicated human situation mired in politics.  Without tying to bulldoze the emotions of conflicting nature, he has taken recourse to a mix of commonsense, humanism and ground realities. Such sagacious approach and dissection should not be dismissed cheaply. Since the resolution has been passed unanimously, the elected representatives of the people can and should initiate the process of return of Pandits by small and steady steps like impressing upon the Government to bring the pending Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill, which is the least offensive and non-controversial aspect of the resolution on the return of the native.
Yours etc….
