Assembly Panel seeks report about projects sanctioned under Flood Management

JAMMU, Dec 9: The Committee on Government Assurances of Legislative Assembly today sought a detailed report about the projects sanctioned under Flood Management Programme by Irrigation & Flood Control Department for the scrutiny of the Committee Members. It also sought detailed report about the Flood Management Programme of district Rajouri.
The Committee, which met under the chairmanship of MLA, Mohammad Yasin Shah here today, discussed and examined the Action Taken Reports (ATRs)pertaining to PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Departments on Government Assurances given on the floor of the House from time to time.
The meeting was attended by the Committee members Ch. Zulfikar Ali, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Mohammad Irfan Shah and Javid Ahmed Dar, who gave their valuable suggestions for further improvement in making quick disposal and fulfilling the Government Assurances well in time.
Taking serious note of delay in fulfilling the Government Assurances, the Committee directed the PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control departments to gear up their field functionaries and fulfill all pending assurances pertaining to their departments given by them on the floor of the House from time to time in a time bound manner.
Detailed deliberations were also held on the de-silting and other works executed under Flood Management Programme at Takanwari Srinagar, Jagirghat Baramulla and Arun Nallahain Kupwara.
While examining the ATRs about construction of Crate Bunds along the banks of Kishen Ganga River, the Panel took serious note of non fulfilling of the Assurance and directed the department to take immediate measures for achieving the same in a time bound manner.
Among others, Principal Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Engineers of PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Chief Engineer Ravi Tawi Irrigation Canal, all Superintendent Engineers, Executive Engineers of both the division, besides senior officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
