JAMMU, Sept 25: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) president, R K Wangnoo today urged the Delimitation Commission to create two Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat for the minority Pandits in Valley for their political empowerment.
In a statement issued here, today he said the Delimitation Commission set up by the Central Government to reorganize the Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir has completed the data collection process and was preparing to carve out new Assembly Constituencies on the basis of the 2011 census. Wangnoo showed concern that the Commission has not yet taken feedback of Kashmiri Pandits who are most sufferers, living an exiled life from the last 31 years.
The Commission should take Kashmiri Pandits into confidence. It should keep in mind while carving out the constituencies that this community wants to resettle in Kashmir but with some Constitutional grantees so that in future chances of re-exodus would not be there. The ASKPC president demanded that there should be exclusively two Assembly and a Parliamentary constituency for Kashmiri Pandits so that they can elect their representatives.
He hoped former Supreme Court Judge, Ranjana Prakash Desai who is heading the Commission will take note of the suggestion of ASKPC, if the report is submitted without the feedback of KPs it would be a total injustice with the community, he added.
Ravinder Raina vice- president ASKPC said Lakshadweep Union Territory has a total population of 6 5, 840 in 2019 that has one Parliamentary seat then why Kashmiri Pandits were deprived of a Parliamentary seat and two Assembly seats when they are more than 7 lac in number. These seats would build confidence in the community and would prove very beneficial for India and stop chances of re-migration. He added long back Kashmiri Pandits were electing their members from HabbaKadal constituency but National Conference with ill designs re-carved that constituency in such a way that chances of electing Kashmiri Pandit candidates became bleak. Raina sought intervention of the PM for providing justice to KPs.
Bhart Bushan Bhat general secretary demanded enhancement of monthly cash relief to Kashmiri Migrants to Rs 30,000 per month as present cash assistance is meagre in such hard times. He expressed satisfaction over the process initiated by Relief organisation in issuing domicile certificates.
